I have enjoyed the great sport of game shooting for over 20 years now. A member of two shoots in South Wiltshire, I have also been lucky to shoot as a guest at many others around and about the country over the years. I love the sport as much as I love shooting with my other weapon, the camera.
In my 40 years as a photographer, as a keen enthusiast as well as professionally throughout my working life in marketing, I have have covered numerous events with my lenses, contributing to many publications. My later-life forays photographing game shoots is a very enjoyable extension to it all. I just love combining my two passions: shooting and shooting, gun and camera.
There is only one problem. I cannot do both at the same time.
So when I'm not shooting driven game myself I love to photograph those who are, on their shoots. From shoot breakfast to keeper's handshake I will snap away and record your day, if you'd like me to. Capturing a flavour of the occasion, preserving your memories and giving you something tangible to look back on.
~ Here's how it works...
1. THE SHOOT
During your day I will aim to record all the action in documentary form, standing for a while on the peg with each of the guns, capturing their action, all the time being careful not to disrupt the proceedings. I will also take candid shots between the drives, during mid-morning break, at lunch, and so on. And in this way I will tell the story of your day with a variety of angles and composition. This approach will result in a wide range of natural pictures, which - combined with any posed group photos you may also like me to take - will result in a gallery that your guns and guests can enjoy forever.
2. THE BAG
Once the birds are in the cart my photographs are hung in the gallery, a secure, password protected online album on this website where guns and guests can privately enjoy the memories and even buy individual prints on Kodak professional papers in a variety of sizes and finishes. Framed prints are also available, ready for hanging on your wall or setting on a side table in the shoot lodge, or on your desk at home.
3. THE BOOK
As a further option, if required, I will create a luxury hardback photobook of your day, as a historical record. Always a point of interest in your shoot room and a lovely souvenir to keep. Your book can also be made available electronically on a USB memory stick.
Selections from my game shooting photography are also available as stock images for commercial and editorial use.
